To mark 25 years of living in the Gloucestershire village of Hawkesbury Upton, Debbie Young has published two new non-fiction books that serve as informal memoirs of rural life in the late 20th and early 21st century.
All Part of the Charm comprises a collection of essays she originally wrote about her first impressions of life in Hawkesbury Upton, when she first moved to the village in 1991, and all the columns she wrote for Hawkesbury Parish News between 2010 and 2015.
Young by Name is a collection of her regular columns for the award-winning monthly community magazine, the Tetbury Advertiser. Described by the magazine’s current editor as “the Jewel in the Crown”, Debbie’s columns offer whimsical musings on the world from this corner of rural Gloucestershire.
Both feature beautiful cover illustrations of rural scenes by the author’s father, and are available in paperback at the recommended retail price of £6.99 and in ebook for £1.99.
The paperbacks may be ordered from any high street bookshop by quoting the ISBNs 978191223023 (All Part of the Charm) and 9781911223030 (Young by Name), or from online retailers. The ebooks are available from all the usual online ebook distributors.
